Serpentine-Blue

There is a very classic theme to this collection. The main inspiration comes from 19th century wallpaper and the rich world of oriental woven textiles. The colours continue my basic palette of blues, reds, greens and amber tones. From Kaffe Fassett adding rich colour possibilities to our fabric paint box is always a thrill and unlocks more aspects of these useful designs. "Victoria" is an interpretation of a vintage textile design, "Lazy Daisy" came from a 1920 s floral print. "Labels" was inspired by discarded exhibition labels. Pebble Mosaic came about after a visit to Australia and looking at Aboriginal paintings. From Brandon Mably Brocade Peony was inspired by 19th Century Japanese woodblock prints of peonies that I floated on a two tone Japanese stenciled ground of further floating peonies. Curly Baskets was inspired by seeing photographs of Ethiopian woven baskets sitting together in a shop window. I then researched further images of Ethiopian baskets to create the design. Marke
