Christmas 1964

Christmas 1964 is a kind of scrappy Christmas tree quilt design measuring 72” X 84”. It doesn’t have to be a Christmas quilt. You could use fall, spring, summer, winter or period fabrics to create your quilt. There aren’t a lot of seams to match, but there is some cutting prep. Please see the fabric requirements on the pattern.

There are borders to consider for this pattern. I did not follow the original pattern directions for my borders, but used patterned fabrics instead of cutting multiple little pieces. (See patterns for further understanding.)

CONSIDER AN ALTERNATE OPTION: INSTEAD OF MAKING THE LARGE SIZE QUILT, MAKE A SMALLER ONE FOCUSING ON JUST ONE TREE. This version would require three borders and less overall fabric. It could be a lap quilt or a wall hanging. (See the supply list for fabric requirements.)

Getting background cutting done before class will allow you to get more work done in class. I do recommend pressing and starching your fabric.
