Brown Bag Mystery is back for 2026, and Cotton Patch is bringing the sunshine.

Karen Montgomery, Brown Bag Mystery is more than a fabric kit. It’s a guided quilt-along experience that unfolds step by step.

What’s in the bag

Each sealed brown bag includes:

• Six coordinating batik fabrics inspired by a Florida postcard theme

• Cutting instructions to help you prepare before the mystery begins

One fabric is visible on the outside of the bag, giving you a hint of the colors and mood inside. The full quilt design remains a mystery until the clues begin.

How the mystery unfolds

March 20, followed by new clues every two weeks:

• April 3

• April 17

• May 1

• May 15

Each clue builds on the last, guiding you through the quilt at a comfortable pace.

A guided, community experience

private Facebook group where Karen Montgomery shares video instruction, tips, and guidance for each clue. You’ll be quilting alongside others from around the country while enjoying expert instruction along the way.

Choose your piecing method

Quilters may choose how they want to piece the quilt:

• Traditional piecing using rulers, or

• Foundation paper piecing using the exclusive Brown Bag Mystery paper pad available through Sewposium shops

Both options are available at the time of purchase.
